The Dreams Of An Old Man Trapped In The Fight With The Destiny
Learn to adopt that attitude of the type "I woke up" based on a major responsibility to the effects of the states you experience before an implacable destiny.
Ed Tom Bell. He wanted to escape from that oppressive, dark and nameless feeling from his depth, to take away the dense and endless mist of despair due to the events of the last period, which surrounded him like a cocoon that delayed to open up.
He felt locked in a tight and empty space, the dramatic center of a life lived like a total defeat. And that desert, completely foreign, so black, so authoritarian, harmful in dealing with life, characteristic only to the man that throws himself with all enthusiasm in front of the unknown, waiting for his denouement, retained him more and more strongly.
He seemed to feel the need for a place to retire, where to rest... forever and ever.
Someone said old age was an expression of destiny, because when you are old you realize whether or not you had any purpose.
Can you fulfill your purpose by counteracting the effects of a destiny that constantly shouts "Faster"?
At the end of the movie "No Country for Old Men (2007)", the main character, Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (played by Tommy Lee Jones), is having a short conversation with his wife, Loretta.
It seemed to him that he fully entered the vague delirium preceding the other unknown called death. His whole being, it seemed, for the first time, a shadow. He does not look at all with the man who embodied the ideal contained in the word "brave". He becomes vulnerable to life, in front of the human condition, as the last redoubt of fighting with himself. A grapple with destiny, the Jacob’s brawl with the angel, the first contact of a simple person along with another dimension.
"I had two dreams, he said to Loretta. Both of them with my father. Weird. I'm older now than he ever was by 20 years. So, in a sense, he's the younger man.
Anyway, the first one I don't remember too well, but it was about meeting my father in town, somewhere, and he give me some money. I think I lost it.
Second one, it was like we was both back in older times. And I was a-horseback, going through the mountains of a night. Going through this pass in the mountains. It was cold, and there was snow on the ground. And he rode past me and kept on going, never said nothing going by, just rode on past. He had his blanket wrapped around him and his head down. When he rode past, I seen he was carrying fire in a horn, the way people used to do, and I... I could see the horn from the light inside of it, 'bout the color of the moon. And, in the dream, I knew that he was...going on ahead. He was fixin' to make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and cold. And I knew that whenever I got there, he'd be there.
And then I woke up."
Are you ready to experience the effects of taking decisions to adapt to changing the product life on an affective background dimmed by a vulnerable destiny?
It is natural and absolutely necessary to look with interest and curiosity every interpretation given to leadership, to have a vision of perspective upon it, and to measure our forces when we get involved in its "game" because the future is uncertain and sometimes not outlined.
An emotional background blurred by a vulnerable destiny produces a distancing from oneself, not accepting as a premise of success any compromise between what your character pushes you to do and what you have to do to avoid total defeat. A "YES" you must pay to destiny represents a "No" that you say to life without any expectation of exhaustivity.
Leadership must spring from us, to be convincing, requiring a form of returning to virtue, and to strengthen from our own convictions. And, we must keep critical lucidity on us in relation to acceptance (transformed into beliefs) of our own model of evaluation and development.
How do you manage your perceptions of leadership? By the will of the vulnerable destiny or by the self-esteem contained in the word "courageous"? By analyzing a dream with an unpleasant prediction in which you find out that someone else will get ahead of you? Or through a special form of sensitivity that you can liken to a spiritual awakening?
The purpose that evolution predestines you for in the gear of a complicated psychological determinism is a manifestation of the attitude between the moment of experiencing a close to the limit situation and the frozen atmosphere of dreaming.
To protect yourself from the Ed Tom Bel syndrome, you need to adopt that "I woke up" attitude based on a major responsibility for the effects produced by the states we feel in the face of an implacable destiny.
This is the individual attitude underlying the composition of leadership, to everything that happens to us, to what we see as a great challenge, the chain of events, to which we ourselves are the protagonists.
Is the main purpose of your existence to become aware of how you use your time as a survival resource so that your goal will be that definition and persistence of character that excludes external influences?
Few leaders, passed by the age of youth, manage to keep afloat when the ship of their own Ego, of their ally or their silent enemy, is swinging on the huge, insecure and boundless open sea of a new identity.
Most people increasingly forward towards sunset. And when this "ship of the constancy of to be" is sinking nobody wants them, nobody longer accepts them. They repel by themselves. And refuses to wear the diving suit, to prepare for an unforgettable adventure, arguing for a genuine solidarity towards more stable values. They are not concerned anymore for their own development, shaping the raw material left in them, just as the artist shapes his painting using the color for it to gain volume.
But they annihilate their leader role strengthening that union between "old age" and "depression", this being the only factor that can bring them closer to the reality of dreams left somewhat far.
How do you take care of a being that you do not have to hurt, when destiny closes the door in your face and you do not have the strength to open it?
A leader can always raise stakes if he copes with events. If he protects his vulnerability in front of life, before his condition of "to be" as a last redoubt of fighting with himself. Continuing to swim, swim, and swim even during storms is a sine qua non condition to achieve greatness in leadership, and to protect your image as man of character.
To maintain your "constancy of to be" is like a being responsible for someone that you do not have to hurt, of an old man found out at the moment when he needs to put order into his life, into his thoughts, fears and to take courage, to continue the good course, to move towards other horizons, to some well-defined targets.
Do you have the will to get rid of that obscure and nameless feeling from your depth? How do you overcome your feeling of guilt, oppressive, surrounding you on all sides? Do you throw yourself with all the enthusiasm in front of the unknown struggling to have a dignified status? Do you see yourself in the position of the man, who embodies the ideal included in the word "brave"? Do you let yourself beaten in front of life, in front of the human condition, as a last redoubt of fighting with yourself?
Leadership is the answer you give to life when destiny gives you less than you can offer back.
The Dreams Of An Old Man Trapped In The Fight With The Destiny means the result of a thorough and realistic approach of the leader’s human nature put into disorienting situations of life. Live your life going forward and you will start to better understand it by looking behind. Face up to the last moment the waves created by your powers.
The reliable performance and the true performer are born from victories obtained in times of trial, when you emerge victorious despite the obstacles appeared or raised by others in your way, when you can say, like a skilled shooter "hit point, shoot point."
And when you reach the sunset - inherent to everyone, you can say to you and to others "mission accomplished"
