The law of mutual service
On August 26, 2010, in Leadership laws, by Neculai Fantanaru

To be helped, you should help others back.

As I mentioned in the previous article, The principle of accelerated development, the Google Translate tool is currently the best and most popular translation tool. This tool, which improved visibly in the past few years, is mainly based on openness and closeness between people.

Google redesigned its customer orientation, providing better services than other competitors (yahoo, Bing, msn, etc) and continues to innovate. The strategy of Google development turned in a direction that satisfies general interests of people. Offering them this free translation tool, which has strongly developed in the past few years, the people at Google ensured that their business will not record any decline. Therefore, Google stands out unlike other competitors in terms of performance, because it meets people's needs, increasing their efficiency and productivity with tools and services which are constantly improving.

Everything changes

The durability of Google corporation's success depends on its ability to offer unique services. And, without doubt, one of the main pillars of its business became lately the free translation tool, Google Translate. With this tool, Google expects that the basic needs of those who browse the Internet be assured - Respectivelly the online translation of sites and web articles in any language, as soon as possible.

Regarding the Google Translate tool, Google's strategy was to involve users in improving it. In other words, Google offers you quality services, but it also expects for you to help improving these services. People need to understand the benefits of such a service and then involve as much as possible, increasing their efficiency and productivity, in order to ensure it a continuous improvement.

You can't develop a process all alone. You must work with a lot of people. You need Google Translate, but Google Translate needs you as well, in order to develop. Without this mutual and supported service, nothing lasting and efficient can be built. And a low effort brings minimal results.

Google Translate, like the cell phone and the mobile phone network, created a new category of benefits, enabling users to communicate freely. And, indirectly, by adding texts and their own translation, they help each other. When someone translates a text from a foreign language, and the translation is not done perfectly, he has the possibility to help correct that translation.

Sustain a profitable investment!

The time you dedicate to help improve Google Translate tool is an investment, both for you and for the Google Corporation. When you offer, both you and the one receiving it gain. It's not at all a waste of time and energy to bring your contribution to the development of a tool or process which, after all, helps you as well. Adopting a constructive approach, interacting with other users by correcting or adding new translations, you earn an extra credit and, besides, you have the satisfaction that you have contributed for everybody's good.

Google became a world leader through its innovative ideas with great practical implications. This was possible with the help of specalists not only in computer science, but also with a great creativity, who thought this system so as to involve as many people, bringing their contribution to its development and improvement. Google largely “speculated” the wish of those people who want to bring voluntarily their contribution and help others unconditionally. It's a good thing that such people exist!

Conclusion: Mutual service is a prerequisite to underpin progress. This mutual service is needed in leadership, as well. A leader, however good he may be, without the help and support from the team or "the senior hierarchies", can't achieve its goals to the benefit of all.
